Getting ringtones onto your phone
Once you have created or have acquired a ringtone you would like to add to your phone, you have two options to transfer the ringtone to your phone.

Method one, Data Cable:
  1. Find a Data Cable - Most newer cell phones can be connected to your computer via a data cable. Normally you can buy one for under $10. You can search for a data cable online, a good reference source is CellPhoneShop.net. To search for a data cable for your phone model on our Tools page. Be sure to match your phone make and model to the data cable offered. If one is not listed for your phone, your phone does not have a compatible data cable.
  2. Transfer Ringtones - Search your computer for cell phone ringtones to transfer to your phone. Some makes of phone come with software that help you transfer your files, some don't... be sure to check your phones manual for more details on the use of the data cable. You can find your phone's manual at our Tools page.
Method two, WAP:
  1. Internet Compatible Phone - You can download ringtones from the internet if your phone can access pages from the internet. You need to confirm this with your cell phone service provider and that your cell phone has this capability. Most new cell phones can do it. However, your cell phone plan may not offer this feature, or it is an extra charge to you.
  2. Free Web Ringtone Providers - Listed below are 3 resources for downloading ringtones to your phone.

    MotoMail - Free service! Just register for free, then you are able to upload ringtones that can be shared with others. There are absolutely no fees to join or to download files. They also offer many popular ringtones to search from there online repository.

    Tonethis - Free service! You need to download a small software to your computer. You can then edit and create ringtones that are transferred directly to your phone, through an MMS message sent through your wireless carrier. Most phones and carriers are supported. Supports both ringtones and pictures.

    Xingtones - for a one-time fee of $20, you can upload ringtones and pictures to share. No other fees.

  3. Download File - When downloading begins, if the phone gives you an option - choose to download or save the file. The download should take approximatly 2 - 10 minutes, and will be between 0.1MB and 1MB When it has downloaded the file, assign it to whatever you want - message tone, ringing tone etc. (Look at your phones manual if you are not sure how to do this)
